Jonathan "Johnny" Haywood, Jr., age 63, of Chapel Hill, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011. A native of Chapel Hill, Mr. Haywood was the son of the late John Mayberry Haywood and Anna Louise Harrison. He was a retired tool and die maker for Vought Industries in Nashville, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star Medal for Valor.
Survived by his wife, Beverly Haywood of Chapel Hill; 2 daughters, Michelle (Tracy) Haywood Batte and Melody Haywood both of Chapel Hill; 2 sons, Jon David Haywood of Chapel Hill; Jamie Dale Johnson of Unionville; 6 sisters, Marie Pace of Merritt Island, FL; Hettie McKinney of Lewisburg; Mary Emma Scott of Knoxville; Joan Perry of Lewisburg; Betty Wright of Chapel Hill; Paulette Eddy of Jacksonville, FL; a grandson, Nathan Harold Batte.
