Eagleville 2007 Park-N-Show Success

By Melissa Buchanan

Whether it was to show off your ride, mingle with other car owners, or simply ogle at some sweet looking vehicles, car enthusiasts gathered on the grounds of Eagleville School for the 2nd Annual Park-n-Show, hosted by the City of Eagleville Park Committee. From classic cars to souped-up trucks, the event continues to grow, as 130 vehicles registered and participated in this year’s event. Jeff Thoni (Franklin, TN) took home Best of Show with his 1934 Chevy Master Coupe. Over 60 different trophies were awarded, all of which were donated by local supporters Salem and Debbie Emamalie, of Brentwood Jewelers.

Oldies music played throughout the day, while A.J. the deejay kept everyone entertained and informed. There were many opportunities to win some great prizes, as Park-n-Show Girls worked the crowd selling 50/50 tickets throughout the day. Anything from dinners at local restaurants and even Kroger gift cards (which could also be used at the gas pumps) was up for grabs, leading up to the "big pot" giveaway of $300, won by Lisa Dantes of Nolensville. Amongst the festivities was even a Hula Hoop Contest, won by Jenny Lee Simmons of Murfreesboro.

Folks beat the heat by taking advantage of the shade provided by the large trees in front of the school, while the Eagleville Volunteer Fire Department kept the kids cool with the fire hose.

The Park-n-Ride is the premier fundraising event hosted by the Park Committee and has proved to be quite successful, pulling in over $6,000! With the match from the grant, that’s over $13,000 earmarked for the new city park! This is truly a positive event which benefits the entire community through the proceeds it raises. Each year the Park Committee will make enhancements necessary to improve the overall event, with plans already in the works to make judging run even smoother next year. Thanks for everyone’s continued support, and we hope you will make plans to attend next year’s Park-n-Show!
