City Recorder Resigns During closing remarks at the Oct. 25 city council meeting, Mayor Nolan Barham announced the resignation of city recorder Michelle Bennett, effective Oct. 31, giving the council a six-calendar day notification. Councilman David Rigsby moved that her resignation be accepted and Councilman Terry Zumbro seconded the motion. The council then unanimously accepted her resignation. Bennett indicated she is leaving the city because she has another job at a higher salary. Bennett’s earlier request this year for continued fire department pay and benefit increases was denied by the council. Her action marked the resignation of all three of the city’s salaried employees. The earlier resignation of Police Chief Everett Stone resulted in the demise of the Eagleville Police Department. The available position of fire chief has been filled. Barham said he is in touch with the Municipal and Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) in conjunction with preparing a notice for the newspaper about the opening for the city recorder position. Those interested in applying for the position may mail their resumes to City Hall at P.O. Box 68, Eagleville, TN 37060 or fax to (615) 274-2637. Bennett’s last day on the job will be the 31st. Barham indicated that more vacation days remain to be paid. The number of days to be paid was not disclosed. City Hall is not expected to be open regular hours until the position is filled. |
