Jim Haynes Jordan, 84, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at his residence in the Arno Community.  Mr. Jordan was born in Williamson County, son of the late Freeman Pillow Jordan Sr. and Frances Brittain Haynes Jordan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and on the Williamson County School Board from 1982-92. He was a welding instructor with Nashville Auto Diesel and Yates Vocational School and a Mason with the Owen Hill Lodge in College Grove for more than 50 years. Mr. Jordan was a member of College Grove Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Jordan of College Grove; two sons, James N. Jordan of Taylor, Mich., and Ronald V. Jordan of Manchester; a daughter, Nora (Riley) Sewell of College Grove; a brother, Freeman P. Jordan Jr. of Nashville; two sisters, Mary J. Hammond of Akron, Ohio, and Martha J. Gervin of Nashville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Donald Ray Blanton, 52, of Rockvale died Thursday, Dec. 11, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.  He was the son of Gladys Barrett Blanton of Murfreesboro and the late Truman Blanton and was preceded in death by brother Truman Blanton Jr.  He is survived by his wife, Brenda Kay Williams Blanton of Rockvale; son Terry Lowe Jr. of Murfreesboro; daughters Christy (Troy) Oakley of Rockvale and Ashley Lowe of Bellvue; brothers Mike Blanton of Murfreesboro and Gene Blanton of Arkansas; sister Christine Horton Blanton; grandchildren Coleby Lee Oakley and Graci Ann Oakley; and several nieces and nephews.  A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, he retired from the Murfreesboro Fire Department as a captain after 27 years of service. He was a beloved husband, father and grandpa and was loved by all.

Wilburn F. ‘Jumbo’ Little, 82, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at his residence in Franklin.  Mr. Little was born in Davidson County and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired grocer with Little’s Big Star. He was a Williamson County commissioner for 34 years, a 32nd Degree Mason and member of Hiram Masonic Lodge, Franklin Lions Club, 911 Board, J.L. Clay Senior Citizens Center, and various other civic and community boards. Mr. Little also was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Darrell Waltrip Men’s Bible Study Group. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Maggie Roberts Little; two brothers, Sidney and Earl Little; and two sisters; Dorothy Beeler and Mary Frances Little.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Smith Little of Franklin; two sons, Tommy (Beverly) Little of Triune and Russell Little of Franklin; a daughter, Brenda (Don) Young of Franklin; two brothers, J.W. Little Jr. of Franklin and T. Vance Little of Brentwood; a sister, Marie Ehresman of Triune; sister-in-law, Sarah Little of Franklin; brother-in-law, H.Y. Beeler of Brentwood; nine grandchildren, Joshua Little, Matt Reynolds, Ruth Patton, Alex Murphy, Donnie Young and Wesley, Vance, Erica and Krista Little; and five great-grandchildren.

Leonard Spencer Lovvorn, 89, of Murfreesboro, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at National Health Care.  He was the son of the late Hugh Frank and Sara Stevens Lovvorn and the widower of Edith Olean Williams Lovvorn.  He is survived by a son, James Owen Lovvorn of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Brenda (Marvin) Burton of Rockvale; three grandchildren, Lisa (Larry) Wilson, Tony (Patti) Burton and Michael (Tosha) Lovvorn; and two great-grandchildren, Michelle and Jared Wilson.  A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, he was a farmer. He was a member of Wards Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Lovvorn was the last of 10 children.

Lillian R. Jefferson, 73, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at her residence in Eagleville.  Mrs. Jefferson was born and resided in Williamson County and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lanie Harper Robinson. She was a retired clerk with the Williamson County Clerk’s Office and a member of Historic Franklin Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Jefferson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Alva Jefferson.  Survivors include three sons, Richard Jefferson of Franklin, John Jefferson of Columbia and Jerry Jefferson of Antioch; a daughter, Nancy Martin of Eagleville; a brother, Thomas M. Robinson of Triune; a sister, Ruth Hensehall of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren, Hunter and Courtney Marlin and Traci Ramirez; and three great-grandchildren.

Ada Ragsdale, 83, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Williamson Medical Center.  Mrs. Ragsdale was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Ralph and Lucy Hope Dickie, and made her home in Franklin. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a homemaker and member of Franklin Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca (James) Riddle of Nashville and Melissa (Mark) Stiles of College Grove, four surviving sisters and six grandchildren.

Reagan Lee Leathers, 12 days old, of Rockvale, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  She was the daughter of Johnny and Kristi Leathers.
Survivors other than her parents are grandparents Arthur and Vickey Leathers, of Rockvale, Cindy Haworth, of Murfreesboro, and Dianne Turner, of La Vergne, and one brother: Aaden Leathers, of Rockvale.

Edna Mosley Crafton, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 at NHC Healthcare of Franklin.  She was born in Rochelle, Ill. to the late Henry O. and Elsie Russman Mosley and made her home in Franklin. A retired ward clerk with the former Williamson County Hospital, Mrs. Crafton was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by husband, John Edward Crafton and grandchild, Ted Hill.  Survivors include a son, Eugene Crafton of Nashville; daughter, Lillian Crafton Hill of Franklin; brother, Lester Mosley and wife, Gertrude, of the Bethesda Community; grandchildren, Edward Crafton of Franklin, Ronnie (Gloria) Hill of Eagleville, Tenn., Vickie (Greg) Mashburn of Franklin, Tim (Ann) Hill of Franklin; five great grandchildren.

James Frank Lee, 66, a resident of Rockvale, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at his residence.  Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Dinah and John Brock, of Knoxville; brother-in-law James (Peggy) Hollis Jr., of Luverne, Ala.; four nieces and two nephews; special friends Deric and Shreeti Bickett, of La Vergne.

Margaret Virginia Waldron, 91, of Franklin Road, Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at her home.  Mrs. Waldron was the daughter of the late Jimmie and Cora Elizabeth Lamb Brannon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Henry Waldron, and by a daughter, Nancy Waldron Driggers.  Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Diane and Lewis McKee, of Murfreesboro; sister Mattie Vasser, of Rockvale; and grandchildren, Jon McKee, of Christiana, and Jaime and Rob Millar, of Murfreesboro.
She was a member of Blackman Church of Christ and was a homemaker.

Robert (Bob) Shelton Jr., 79, of Eagleville, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 in Murfreesboro.  A Rutherford County native, he was the son of the late Robert Houston and Clara Mae Jernigan Shelton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Earlene Dalton Shelton, who died in April 1986 and two brothers: Jack Shelton and Don Shelton.  He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Debra and Garry Lawrence, of Chapel Hill; son David Shelton of Christiana; three sisters: Gloria McCrary, of Cookeville, Jane Puckett, of Eagleville and Katie Giles, of Thompson Station; two brothers: Billy Shelton, of Nolensville and Joe Shelton, of Eagleville; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Susan and Guy Waggoner, of Nashville; grandson Trey Lawrence, of Chapel Hill and one great-grandson: Daniel Waggoner, of Nashville.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired milk hauler. He was a member of Eagleville United Methodist Church.

Vera Elizabeth Ross Tucker, 65, of Midland, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.  A Rutherford County native, she was the daughter of the late Robert Burton and Mattie Vera Victory Ross. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruffs Allen Tucker.  She is survived by three daughters, Mattie Sue Ingram of Murfreesboro, Cindy Morris of Rockvale and Melissa Johnson of Murfreesboro; three sons, Phillip Tucker of Midland, Troy Tucker of Murfreesboro and Andy Tucker of Midland; three brothers, George Ross of Seattle, Wash., Owen Ross of Rockvale and Robert Ross Jr. of Murfreesboro; six sisters, Rachael Barnes of Nashville, Christine Davis of La Vergne, Fay Fusting of Smyrna, Gracie Hall of Gladeville, Louise Henley of Mt. Juliet and Evie Patterson of Smyrna; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She was a member of Midland Baptist Church and a devoted homemaker.

Pauline W. Walton, 90, of Clarksville, formerly of College Grove, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 25, 2003, in Clarksville after an extended illness.  Mrs. Walton was a native of Marshall County and a retired medical clerk, having retired from Fort Campbell Army Hospital after 13 years of service. She was a member of Clarksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Walton was a daughter of the late Paul and Susie Lee Eudailey White.  Survivors include a daughter, Dottie Walton Miner of Clarksville; a son, George W. Walton of Murfreesboro; and two grandchildren.

June Delores Clark Richardson, 71, of Murfreesboro, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.  A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Evelyn Patton Clark Sr.  She is survived by daughters Betty (Roger) McRae and Lisa June (William) Manus, both of Murfreesboro, and Dana Faye Richardson, of Hermitage; sons Loyd E. (Connie) Richardson Jr., Randall Clark (Donna) Richardson and Bobby (Pat) Richardson, all of Almaville; sisters Katherine Woodson, of Eagleville, and Faye Parker and Nancy Christopher, both of Murfreesboro; brothers John Clark and Bobby Clark, both of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her brother, the late Jim Clark Jr. She was a member of the Franklin Road Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Good Shepherd’s Children Home.

Claiborne Kinnard McLemore Jr., 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at NHC Healthcare of Franklin. Mr. McLemore was born in Franklin, son of the late Claiborne Kinnard McLemore Sr. and Nellie Green McLemore, and made his home in Franklin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. McLemore was a self-employed surveyor and member of Cowles Chapel United Methodist Church.  Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Mefford McLemore of Franklin; a son, Claiborne Kinnard (Suzanne) McLemore III of Nashville; a daughter, Margaret “Betty” McLemore (Tom) Pritchett of Rockmart, Ga.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Honorary pallbearers were the Bridge Club of the College Grove Senior Enrichment Center.

Maribeth Tegarden, 42, of Eagleville, died Nov. 16, 2003, at her residence.  She was the daughter of Maira Lamb and the late Condra Lamb, of Eagleville.  She is also survived by husband Dwight Tegarden, of Eagleville; son Trey Barnfield, of Goodlettsville; daughters Candice (Thomas) Haggard, of Eagleville, and Kristina Barnfield, of Goodlettsville; stepdaughter Anna Tegarden, of Murfreesboro; brother Bill (Deborah) Lamb, of Eagleville; grandchild Isaiah Haggard, of Eagleville.

Herman Leverette, 82, of the Versailles community of Rutherford County, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, in Murfreesboro after an extended illness. Mr. Leverette was a native of Rutherford County and was retired after 35 years of service with the Rutherford Farmers Co-Op in Eagleville. He was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Sally Ray Leverette. Mr. Leverette was preceded in death by daughter Peggy Joyce Leverette and several brothers.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Sue Beasley Leverette, of the Versailles community; son Gary Leverette, of the Versailles community; daughters Recia (L.B.) Ferrell, Betty (Jerry) Thomas, Moranda (Dexter) Adams and Thelma (James) Price, all of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 12 step great-grandchildren.

Linda Sue Climer, 48, of Murfreesboro, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.  A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of Ernestine Barrett (Jerry) Earp, of Murfreesboro, and the late Bobby Ray Climer and the late Charles S. Barrett. She was also preceded in death by grandparents Al and Eva Lee Huthins, Clay and Ruby Wooton Climer and Andrew T. and Ivy Fann Barrett; and sister Brenda Kay Climer.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by companion Jimmy Wayne (Slim) Wilson; daughter Tina Louise Wilson, of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Casandra Handley and Cayla Stafford, both of Murfreesboro; brothers Billy Ray (Kelly) Climer, Jimmy Wayne (Linda) Climer and Charlie Lester (Cathy) Barrett, all of Murfreesboro; Rebecca Climer (Billy) Watkins and Teresa Climer (Timmy) Baskin, both of Murfreesboro; stepbrothers Keith Earp, Kevin Earp and Kent Earp; stepsisters Karen Riteout, Kathy Amby and Karonica McDonald; several nieces and nephews.  She attended Rockvale Church of Christ and was a homemaker.

Oliver “O P” Parkerson, age 83, died from a horse accident Nov. 6, 2003, at his home in Lebanon.  He is survived by his children: James (Peggy), Phillip (Linda), Larry (June) Parkerson, all of Lebanon; one daughter: Mary Nell (Ronald), of Murfreesboro; 10 grandchildren: Mike (Beth) Paris, of Rockvale, Keith (Cathy) Paris, of Marion, Ind., Todd Paris, of Murfreesboro, Kim (James) Francis, of Hazard, Ky., Kristy Clark, of Tallahassee, Fla., Jason, Tony, Brian, Mandy, Danny Parkerson, all of Lebanon.  Great-grandchildren are Rebecca, Amy, Missy, Joel, Beth Ann, Sarah, Daniel, Hannah, David Paris, Jonathan, Whitney and Brooke Francis, Tyler and Ryan Clark.  He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Bell Crutcher Parkerson; his parents and three sisters: Gracie Crook, Minnie Scott, Jessie Parkerson.  O P was a builder and a very hard worker and will be missed by his family and friends. His love for horses was a big part of his life. He was a member of the Watertown Saddle Club and a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church.

Robert “Bobby” Wilson Ross, 52, of Murfreesboro, died Sunday, Nov. 9.  He was the son of Robert and Katherine Heath Ross Jr. of Murfreesboro.  He is survived by his parents; son Jackson Robert Ross of Murfreesboro; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Dawn Ross of Rockvale; sisters Barbara (Bobby) Sons of Tullahoma and Shelby (Eddy) Williams of Murfreesboro; and grandchildren Austin and Alex Ross.  Mr. Ross was a member of the Baptist church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict and owner and operator of Bobby Ross Construction Co.

Paul Wesley Hartman, 76, of Smyrna, Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at home.  He was a native of Rutherford County, and the son of the late Ernest and Celese Paul Hartman.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Dodd Hartman; sons Paul Jason (Rose Anne) Hartman, of Petersburg, and Price Haden (Alison) Hartman, of Rockvale; sisters Ernestine H. Fergus, of La Vergne, and Dorothy H. (Axel) Swang, of Antioch; four grandchildren, Adriane Anne Hartman, Jamie Paul Hartman, Mary Katherine Hartman, and John Price Hartman.  Mr. Hartman was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Hartman Lemons. He was a member of the Church of Christ, veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and a retired employee of South Central Bell.

Richard Len Boyett, 59, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.  He was the son of the late Smith Bowling and Helen Louise Barnes Boyett. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Jo Barnhill.  He is survived by son Jeffrey (Julie) Boyett, of Rockvale; sisters Ruth Kelton and Deloris Singleton, of Nashville, and Carolyn Spann, of Dickson; grandchildren Cameron, Katelyn, Matthew and Miranda Boyett, Megan and Marissa Barnhill.  A native of Davidson County, he was owner and operator of Computer Room Design company.

James Elvis McElroy, 78, died Oct. 25, 2003 at his residence in Lawrenceburg, Tenn.  He was born in Russell Springs, Ky. to the late John and Laura Owens McElroy and was a retired self-employed farmer, loving husband and father. Mr. McElroy was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis McElroy.  Survivors include his wife, Sara Fox McElroy of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; daughters, Lillie McElroy (John) West of Arlington, Tex., Michelle McElroy (Martin ) Simmons of Franklin; step-sons, Paul (Betty Ann) Fox of Eagleville, Tenn, Allan (Janice) Fox of Columbia, Tenn; brother, William McElroy of Whiteland, Ind.; sisters, Gracie Brown of Russell Springs, Ky, Evelyn Rice of Danville, Ky.; four grandchildren, and one step-grandson.

Mary Therese LeCluyse Gravagno, 75, of Rocky Glade Road in Eagleville, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003  A native of Shawnee, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Julia DeJaeger LeCluyse.  She is survived by husband Carmelo Gravagno; son Joseph Wendl, of Eagleville; daughter Rose Ann (Bryan) Klein, of Rockvale; brother William A. LeCluyse, of Lenexa, Kan.; grandson Jonathan Wendl, of Eagleville.  Mrs. Gravagno was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Clair Seniors and a homemaker.

Wayne Chaffin, 53, of Eagleville, Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mr. Chaffin was a native of Putnam County and a son of the late Thomas Leo and Minnie Alice Hargis Chaffin. He was an automobile mechanic.  He is survived by sisters Kathleen Thomas, of Baxter, and Mildred Plants, of Franklin, Ky.; brothers Thomas Chaffin Jr., and Leo Chaffin, both of Eagleville, Tilman Chaffin, of Cookeville, Jerry Chaffin, of Double Springs, and Billy Chaffin, of Baxter.

Fount Edwards, 90, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at home.  He was the son of the late Nat and Almedia Swaner Edwards.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Clara White Edwards, of Murfreesboro; sons Ernest Edwards, of Fort Mitchell, Ala., Robert L. Edwards, of Walter Hill, Fount Edwards Jr., of Murfreesboro, Clyde Edwards, of Rockvale, David Edwards, of La Vergne, Roger Edwards, of Murfreesboro, Donald and Joe Edwards, both of Christiana; daughters Shirley Nickens, Peggy Manus, Wanda Martin, Betty Pitts, and Sally Winfrey, all of Murfreesboro, Mildred Campbell, of Milton, and Rita Montgomery, of La Vergne; brothers Edd Edwards, of Murfreesboro, Henry Edwards, of Westmoreland, and Frank Edwards, of Leana; sister Rose Barrett, of Murfreesboro; 31 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.  A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, he was a retired farmer. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. He attended the Bridge Avenue Church of Christ.

Daniel Michael Byrd, 30, of Rockvale, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at home.  He was the son of Michael Lareed and Rosalain Sullivan Byrd, of Unionville.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by wife Karen G. Byrd; sons Michael Seth Byrd, and Kyle Spencer Byrd, both of Rockvale; brothers Joseph Byrd and Joshua Byrd, both of Unionville, and Jeremai Byrd, of North Carolina; sisters Hannah Little, of Christiana, and Joy Creech, of North Carolina.  A native of Mobile, Ala., he lived in Rutherford County for the past nine years. He worked for the U.S. Army of Defense.

Pearl Hargis Parks, 82, of Murfreesboro, but formerly of Eagleville, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Community Care of Rutherford County.  She was the daughter of the late Wiseman and Lethia Bransford Hargis.  She is survived by daughters Doris Sanders, of Nashville, Janet Burns, of Michigan, Judith Farris, of Murfreesboro, and Pamela Gray, of Ohio; sons Jerry Parks, of West Virginia, William Parks Jr. and Robert Parks, both of Michigan; brother Wiseman Hargis Jr., of Hermitage; sisters Lula Bradford, of Nashville, Dortch Young, of Michigan, and Betty Neal, of Murfreesboro; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Parks was married to the late William Thomas Parks. She was a member of the Baptist Church and a former employee of Hygrade Meat Company.

Edd Core Smithson, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at his residence in Nashville.  Mr. Smithson was born in Williamson County to the late Patrick Henry and Mattie Sue Bennett Smithson, one of 11 children. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for 18 months before joining the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Smithson faithfully attended the CCC reunion every year.  He worked for 25 years as a security guard with Reichhold Chemical Co., which was formerly Ferro Fiberglass Corp. Mr. Smithson was a member of the Bethesda Senior Citizens and Calvary Church of the Nazarene.  Survivors include his devoted wife of 54 years, Mrs. Alva Smithson of Antioch; a daughter, Sheila Smithson (Wendell) Marlowe of Mount Juliet; a son, Wendell (Katrina) Smithson of La Vergne; three brothers, Sam Smithson of the Ash Hill Community, Roy Smithson of College Grove and Dorris Smithson of Franklin; two sisters, Rebecca Haskins and Jimmie Brown, both of Franklin; four grandchildren, Patrick and Joshua Marlowe, and Sara and Amanda Smithson; and one great-grandchild, Jordon Marlowe.

William C. Adcock Sr., 88, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003.  A native of DeKalb County, he was the son of the late Henry and Lizzie Robinson Adcock.  He is survived by daughters Alma Patton, of Monroe, La., Juanita Watkins, of Rockvale, and Delma Taylor, of Murfreesboro; son William C. Adcock Jr., of Murfreesboro; brothers Odie Adcock, of Nashville, Frank Adcock, of Smithville; sisters Lera James, of Texas, and Veda Clark, of Sparta; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  Mr. Adcock was preceded in death by his wife, Berchie Pullum Adcock, and preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma Hayes.  Mr. Adcock served in the Army during World War II and was retired from the Alvin C. York Veteran Hospital.

John Edward Beard, 64, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Williamson Medical Center.  Mr. Beard was born in Williamson County, son of the late Neal and Annie Lee Roberson Beard, and made his home in College Grove. He was a faithful worker for Dr. Joe Willoughby for 29 years on his farm. He loved to play Pedro at the Flat Creek Store.  Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Beard; two sons, Tony (Barbara) Beard and Timmy (Bonnie) Beard, all of College Grove; three daughters, Betty Sue (Randy) Matlock of the Rally Hill Community, Sharon Beard of Chapel Hill and Donna (Timmy) Beard of Unionville; five brothers, William Neal Beard and Dan Beard, both of Franklin, Joe Beard of the Peytonsville Community, Raymond Beard of Franklin and Bill Carter of Spring Hill; four sisters, Elizabeth Sharp of Franklin, Estelle Spain of Murfreesboro, Mary Ann Tidwell of Alabama and Faye Nall of College Grove; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and his favorite pet, Forrest.

Betty Jane Taylor, 59, of Shelbyville, died Monday, Oct. 13, at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center. She was a native of Rutherford County and a member of Church of God.  She was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin and Mable Prince Taylor. She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Taylor.  She is survived by four brothers, Robert Franklin Taylor Jr., of Murfreesboro, Don Taylor, of Nolensville, Chuck Taylor, of Murfreesboro, John Thomas Taylor, of Unionville; and sister Juanita Taylor, of Birmingham, Ala.

Frank Burton Willard, 54, of Rockvale, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003.  A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of Aline Bragg Willard, of Rockvale, and the late Wiseman Madison Willard.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by brothers Aubrey Willard, of Murfreesboro, Sammy Willard, of Smyrna, and Wendell Willard, of Rockvale; sisters Emogene Bellenfant, of Murfreesboro, Pat Barkve, of Tullahoma, and Margie Robinson, of Rockvale.  Mr. Willard was preceded in death brother James Willard and daughter Crystal Willard.

Era Mae Maupin, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at her residence in the Peytonsville Community.  Mrs. Maupin was born in Williamson County, daughter of the late Walter and Sally Simmons Beard. She was a homemaker and member of Peytonsville Methodist Church.  Survivors include her husband, L.T. Maupin of Peytonsville; a son, Ronnie (Lynn) Maupin of Franklin; a daughter, Linda (Robert) Williams of the Triune Community; two brothers, Claude Beard of Franklin and Murry Beard of Nashville; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Bruce of Peytonsville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

William Nees (Bubba) Howell, 47, of the Barfield community, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at his home.  A native of Davidson County, he was the son of Betty Nees Howell, of Nashville, and the late Billy Moore (Pusher) Howell.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by wife Mary Howell; son William Zachary (Zack) Howell, of the Barfield community; niece Whitney Rosenbaum, of Smyrna.  He was a member of the Methodist Church, assistant basketball coach at Rockvale Elementary School, where he was an SRO with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department.

Howard Edward “Ed” Brown, age 88, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at Williamson Medical Center. Mr. Brown was born in Williamson County, son of the late Thomas and Dora Fitzgerald Brown, and made his home in the Triune Community.  He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  Mr. Brown was a retired mail carrier in the Arrington area and the owner and operator of Brown’s Western Store. He was a member and retired elder of Millview Church of Christ and was preceded in death by wife, Johnnie Elizabeth Brown, and son, Charles Edward Brown.  Survivors include son Larry Brown and wife, Billie, of Triune; daughters, Mary Reed and husband, L.C., of Triune, Shirley Walton and husband, Jimmy, of Franklin, Kay Beasley and husband, Mike, of Arrington and Linda Wright and husband, Gary, of Lyles, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bessie Louise Claybrooks Spann, 74, went home to Glory Oct. 4, 2003, after an extended illness. She was a native of the Almaville community and a professional care giver.  She leaves to cherish her memory: devoted daughters Brenda Louise (Audrey) Spann and Victoria (Earl) Caruthers; devoted sons Harold (Eva) Spann and Ernest (Gloria) Spann; two sisters-in-law; numerous grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

Gene Carter, 55, of Smyrna, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003.  A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Roy Lee and Lydia Hall Carter.  He is survived by sister Virginia McGowan, of Smyrna; fiancee Teresa McGowan, of Smyrna; nephews Mike McGowan and Michael McGowan Jr., both of Smyrna, and Randall McGowan, of Rockvale; niece April Wilson, of Lascassas.
Mr. Carter worked for Music City Truck Stop as a shift manager and attended First Free Methodist Church in Smyrna.

Judy Rose Estes, 55, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at St. Thomas Hospital.  Ms. Estes was born in Ripley, Miss., and was a member of West Main Church of Christ in Franklin.  Survivors include her father, Hiram Estes; her mother, Edith Reed Estes, both of Starkville, Miss.; two sisters, Nancy (Ed) Williams of Starkville and Ms. Beth Estes of College Grove; two nieces, Ellen Williams of Macon, Miss., and Laura Williams of Starkville; and two nephews, Austin and Ben Williams, both of Starkville.

Jackie James Bragg, 70, passed away Oct. 1, 2003, following an extended illness.  He was the son of the late Ada Simmons Bragg and Clyde Hooper Bragg.  Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bragg, of Rockvale; four children: Jacqueline Sager (Michael), Jay Bragg (Kim), Jill Jamison (Mark) and Thomas Bragg (Becky), all of Murfreesboro; one sister: Gayle Gilley, of Smyrna; six grandchildren: Savannah Sager, Jonathan Bragg, Nicholas Jamison, Mackenzie Sager, Lauren Jamison and Carter Anderson.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, retired from Chromalox and a veteran of the Korean War.

Howard Thomas Denton, 72, of La Vergne, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003.  A native of Davidson County, he was the son of the late Charles Howard and Bertha Restora Potts Denton.  He is survived by his wife Margie Duke Denton; sons Thomas A. (Judy) Denton, of La Vergne, and Timothy D. Denton, of Springfield; daughters Catherine E. (Rickie) Minatra, Suzanne M. Denton, Patricia G. Denton, all of Nashville, and Kimberley R. (Phlip) Mankin, of Smyrna; brothers Bobby D. Denton, of Mt. Juliet, and Larry E. Denton, of Smyrna; sisters Juanita Fuqua, of Hermitage, Mary J. Cantrell, of Unionville, Barbara J. Ellis, of Franklin, and Shirley B. Williams, of Nolensville; 11 grandchildren.  Mr. Denton was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles R. and Ronald C. Denton, and by sister, Ruth Corinne Ferrell and Elizabeth King.

Addie Bell Ross, 80, of Rockvale, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at home.  A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Ruby Fields Heath Sr.  She is survived by husband Owen Ross; daughters Mary Evelyn (Wayne) Lamb, of Christiana, Pamela Jean (Ronnie) Grasham, of Woodbury; son Jimmy Wayne (Ovie) Ross, of Nashville; sisters Lela Carter, of Unionville, Katherine Ross, of Murfreesboro, and Edith Scott, of Durango, Colo.; brother James Heath, of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Michelle Stewart, Misty Yealock, Melissa Phillips and Barbara Duran, Timberly, Jason, Dalton and Addie Ross, and Danielle and Tyler Grasham; and five great-grandchildren.  She was a member of Midland Baptist Church and was retired from Heathcraft. Mrs. Ross was a devoted homemaker.

John R. Jones, 87, Lucky community resident and Warren County native, died Sept. 20 at home.  A retired civil service employee with the Veterans Administration, a farmer and a member of Earleyville Church of Christ and VFW Post 173, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.  The son of the late C.L. and Ola Jones, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Stewart and brother, Philip Jones.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beth Ammons Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Ray Ann and Don McCord of Eagleville; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Nancy Jones of McMinnville, Wayne and Teresa Jones of Murfreesboro; and seven grandchildren, Joel and Keith McCord, Adam, Nick, Jamisen, Zachary and Blake Jones.

Dalton Ray McCune, 56, of Rockvale, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at St. Thomas Hospital after a short illness.  He was the son of the late George and Bertha Lovell McCune.  He is survived by son Doug McCune, of Bell Buckle; and daughter Chris Sherburne, of Murfreesboro; and three grandchildren.  A native of Alabama, he was employed at MTSU.

Rubye Harris Adams, 80, passed away Sept. 19, 2003, after an extensive battle with breast cancer. Survived by husband James Oliver Adams; daughters Pat (Richard) Kieffer, Eagleville, and Judy West, Bible Grove, Ill.; sons Richard Gary (Janie) Adams, Knoxville, and Oliver Keith Adams, Nashville; brothers James Harris, Nashville, and Larry Harris, Lynnville. She had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Northfield Blvd. Church of Christ in Murfreesboro.

Vernon E. (King) Berry, 79, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at his home.  He was the son of the late Charlie B. and Velma McElhaney King.  He is survived by wife Gladys Jones Berry, of Gallatin; sons Bryan Berry, of Cotton Town, Bobby Berry, of Gallatin; daughter Patricia Ann Berry, of Hendersonville; brothers Joe King, of Eagleville, Richard King, of Murfreesboro, Bob King, of Smyrna, Charlie King, of Eagleville, Paul King, of Murfreesboro, David King, of Spring City, and Phillip King, of Tampa, Fla.; sister Charlotte King Ralston, of Eagleville; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.  A World War II veteran and a native of Grundy County, he lived in the Almaville Community and later moved to Gallatin. He retired from TVA.

Henry Darryl Mosley, 42, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Williamson Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Williamson County, Mr. Mosley was a resident of College Grove, graduate of Page High School and member of Christ Family Church.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannine Maddox. Survivors include his parents, Clyde Sr. and Margaret Mosley of College Grove; a son, Daniel Denton Mosley of Lyles; a sister, Alice (Frank) Hernandez of Franklin; and two brothers, Clyde (Carrol) Mosley Jr. of Greenbrier and Reed (Lea) Mosley of Mount Juliet.  

Jacob McCabe Brewer, infant was stillborn Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.  He is survived by his parents, James Michael and Anissa Reynolds Brewer; two brothers, Justin and Matthew Brewer, of Wartrace; grandparents James and Pat Baxter, of Unionville, Nancy Reynolds, of Wartrace, and Taylor and Carol Reynolds, of Wartrace.

Clara Mae Johnson Lillard Winton,
81, Rockvale resident and Warren County native, died Aug. 30 in Rockvale.  A homemaker and a member of Brown Chapel Baptist Church, she was the daughter of Nelson and Clara Bell King Johnson; and was preceded in death by her first husband, Fate Lillard; and second husband, Hollis Winton Jr. II; sons, Hollis Winton III and Caldwell Winton; granddaughter, Debra Peaches Richardson; sister and brother-in-law, Emma Ruth and Wiley Martin; brother-in-law, Joe Richardson; and sister-in-law, Marie Johnson.  She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille Richardson, Eldora Ann and James Woods, all of Murfreesboro, Janese and Larry Elder of Rockvale, Hollene and Thomas Williams of New York; sons and daughters-in-law, Jewell and Eve Lillard of South Carolina, Charles and Linda Lillard of Smyrna, Paula and Barbara Lillard of Pontiac Mich., and Ft. Worth, Texas; 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Booker Thomas of Ft. Worth, Lorene and Willie Bass of McMinnville; brothers and sister-in-law, Eunice Johnson of McMinnville, James and Helen Johnson of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

James D. ‘J.D.’ Woodson, 85, of Rockvale died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.  He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Jimmy D. and Louise Farris Woodson.  He is survived by his wife, Miriam Arnette Woodson; daughter Mrs. Barbara (James Donald) Clark, of Rockvale; son Jimmy (Brenda) Woodson, of Rockvale; sisters Mrs. Leila (Billy) Lynch and Mrs. Louise (James Porter) McKnight, both of Murfreesboro, and Mrs. Emma Gloria Ralston, of Rockvale; brother Leslie F. (Katherine) Woodson, of Eagleville; grandchildren Penny (Shane) Ray, Misty Clark, Kevin (Mary) Woodson and Eric (Rusha) Woodson; great-grandchildren Brook Woodson, Brad Woodson and Emily Woodson.  Mr. Woodson was a member of the Rockvale Church of Christ and retired from the Rutherford County Highway Department, retiring in 1975.

Lincoln Hughes, 26, of Rockvale, died Wednesday, Aug. 27 at home.  A native of Fortuna, Calif., he was the son of Jerald Hughes, of Ukiah, Calif., and Barbara Dustin, of Reno, Nev.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by sisters Victoria Geiger, of Reno, Nev., and Jolene Lomeli, of Gridley, Calif.; brother Jerry Hughes, of Woodland, Calif.  Mr. Hughes served in the U.S. Army and worked as a plumber. Mr. Hughes enjoyed riding bulls.
