A Step Back in Time

WHEELER’S GROCERY STORE

Riley J. Wheeler, pictured on the left, was owner and operator of this grocery store in the 1930’s and 1940’s. The store was located on the west side of Main Street in Eagleville about where City Hall is now located. The Wheeler’s lived in the house that was recently torn down between city hall the restaurant. The other two men in the picture are unknown.
Jimmy Wilkinson, his grandson, is pictured in front of the store in 1942 before the sidewalks and street were concreted. The streets were paved between 1942 and May of 1944.

The
 Community
 Mission

The Community Mission is a local effort to relieve suffering in our community. Throughout the year, this organization provides clothing, food, and emergency financial assistance for people in the Eagleville and Rockvale communities. It is located on the school grounds in the concession stand building at the Baseball Field. Volunteers maintain a food pantry and clothing closet in this donated space.
Please remember the Community Mission and donate your money or non-perishable food items so that this organization can continue to help our neighbors.
