Trucking Company Challenges Zoning Decision

Eagleville Mayor Nolan Barham announced after Thursday’s council meeting that the city’s zoning laws will not allow a long haul trucking company to locate on a Cheatham Springs Road site that is zoned general commercial or C-2.

"That is all there is to that," he added.

Cindy Morgan Honored At Dove Awards

Cindy Morgan, who calls Eagleville Home with her husband Sigmund Brouwer and daughters Olivia and Savannah was honored on Wednesday April 27th at the Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.

She received an award for Country Song of the Year for the song "How you Live" as recorded by Point of Grace. Later in the evening she was honored as Songwriter of the Year. A songwriter’s songwriter, Morgan has garnered eighteen number one hits that include ‘Listen’, ‘Praise the King’, ‘Take my life’, and ‘I Know You’; as well as Point of Grace’s recent hit ‘How You Live’. Attorneys Review City Charter Change

The proposed Eagleville city charter revision was still being reviewed by the state legislative legal services on Friday.

Rep. Curt Cobb said he asked for a legal review of the proposed document after he received it from the city. Mayor Nolan Barham said he sent the charter change proposal to the state soon after the councilmen approved it at their March 27 meeting.

The legislative legal service attorneys draft bills and review proposed legislation, particularly in the instance of a total charter rewrite, Cobb said.

City Council Agrees To Sell Shed Once Used By Fire Department

City councilmen agreed at their Thursday meeting to sell an old shed that sits at Main Street and Allisona Road that was once used by the Eagleville Fire Department to the adjoining property owner.

The late Dr. E.L. Williams had sold the 20 by 28 foot lot that the building sits on to the city for $25 in 1956. Sam Tune, who owns the property that surrounds the shed on three sides, agreed to pay the city $1,500 for the building and property.
